Ascension House - A home for travelers
WELCOME to Ascension House!
If you are looking for a peaceful place to stay while exploring Hong Kong, Ascension House is the ideal choice. Part of Tao Fong Shan Christian Centre it is on a wooded hillside with views of Sha Tin only a 15 minute walk away from the bus and MTR stations and the shopping malls.
Ascension House mainly hosts backpackers, but also travellers from around the world all with different beliefs and philosophies. We also have quite a few local Hong Kong guests. Ascension House is for rest, renewal and friendship.
Visitors are invited to join the daily prayers, which are a central part of the Christian communal lifestyle here.
Ascension House is managed by volunteers from Scandinavia who are glad to share their home with you.
The history of Ascension House
Ascension House began to host backpackers in 1986. Traveling requires an adventurous spirit, a willingness to meet the unfamiliar and leave one's comfort zone. It is not only a journey of the body, but also of the soul and spirit. In Ascension House travellers from different countries, holding different beliefs and philosophies, gather for rest, renewal and friendship.
Ascension House is a part of Tao Fong Shan Christian Centre, originally a centre for dialogue between Christians and Buddhists. Built in the 1930s in the style of a Chinese Buddhist monastery Tao Fong Shan offers a tranquil space virtually unmatched in Hong Kong.
Tao Fong Shan (including Ascension House) is a non-profit organization.
